Here are my favorite/best routines of the qualifications:



Aliya Mustafina, Russia, Vault

HOLY EFFING FUCK! Hardest vaults of the day. The Amanar [first vault, 2.5 twisting yurchenko] was more difficult and amazing, but the bigger deal to me is the second vault. The much fabled "Khorkintosh" that has never been competed at any major event and that nobody had any fucking clue she was even training. Hopefully the Russian team did remember to submit it and it will be named the "Mustafina" now! Aliya, BTW, was by far the best thing about prelims. Gorgeous, dominant performance that left everyone else in the dust and is the first person in 15 years to qualify for all 4 apparatus finals. Love her! Please hit in finals!!

Final note: Good heavens, do we need bar workers. I can't see the USA having a legitimate shot at team gold in London unless they manage to convince Nastia to come out of (semi-)retirement. Marta needs to crawl on her knees and beg. Seriously.

Things which I am digging lately:

1. Sue Bird. I don't know shit about basketball (or care to), but I can for sure appreciate the hotness and the awesome. Seriously, you guys, I have a weakness for playmakers. And the Storm are adorable & so fun!

2. Leverage! Mostly Parker! So glad for summer TV. See also: True Blood. Rizzoli & Isles.

3. Discovery Health Channel. And Intervention.

4. Gymnastics. The US juniors are awesome and Sacramone's comeback and the return of Russian gorgeousness and depth. Delightful to watch.


Things which I am not digging lately:

1. SYTYCD. What is this fuckery? And also, the homophobia is a turn-off.

2. WPS. The loss of Athletica has burned me out.

3. DC Weather. WTF heat and humidity grossness. Ew.

Well, fuck you too, Criminal Minds. I guess it'll be nice to free up more of my time next season to watch something else.
